Feynman — Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Feynman is an iOS application that helps you understand documents and notes using AI. This policy describes what data is collected, how it is processed, and with whom it is shared.

2. Data We Collect

Feynman collects only what is necessary to provide its core function:

• Note and document content — text you write or import into the app. This content is sent to our AI proxy when you request an explanation or ask a question.
• User ID — a unique identifier assigned to your account. Used to associate your data with your account and to manage your subscription.
• Email address — collected only if you choose to sign in with Apple and share your email. Used solely for account management purposes.
• App usage data — crash reports and basic usage events collected automatically to improve stability. This data does not include your note content.
• Technical metadata — IP address and request metadata logged automatically by our proxy infrastructure for operational and security purposes.

3. How Your Data Is Processed

When you request an AI response, your note content is transmitted over HTTPS to our proxy server, which forwards it to an AI provider for processing. The proxy does not store your content. Responses are returned directly to your device.

Your notes, flashcards, and quizzes are stored locally on your device. Account data (User ID, email if provided) is stored on our authentication backend.

4. Third-Party Services

• AI provider — Note content sent for AI processing is subject to our AI provider's data handling policies. They do not use your data to train models by default.
• Authentication provider — Your User ID and email (if provided) are stored with our authentication provider to manage your account.
• Subscription provider — Your User ID is shared with our subscription provider to manage your subscription status.
• Infrastructure provider — Our proxy infrastructure may log request metadata (IP address, timestamps) for operational purposes.

We require all third parties with whom we share user data to protect that data to the same standard described in this policy and in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

5. Data Retention

Note content sent through our proxy is not retained after the response is returned. Local note data persists on your device until you delete it. Account data (User ID, email) is retained until you delete your account.

6. Your Rights

You may delete your notes at any time from within the app. You may also revoke consent and delete your account entirely from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Account deletion removes your data from our servers, is effective immediately, and cannot be reversed.

If you are unable to access the app, you may request account deletion by contacting us at the address in Section 10. We will process your request within 30 days.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, disclosure, or loss. However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We do not use your note content to train AI models, and we do not sell your data to third parties.

8. Children's Privacy

Feynman is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The date at the bottom of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
